Empowering Communities Through Knowledge: LIPPA’s First Aid & Health Awareness Training in Turkey
In the aftermath of the devastating Turkey earthquake, survivors face more than just physical destruction. The challenges of displacement, lack of medical access, and increased health risks make daily life an uphill battle—especially for women and children in refugee camps.
That’s why, in February 2024, LIPPA launched the “We Work for Humanity” project in Southern Turkey, focusing on medical first aid and health awareness training. More than just a humanitarian response, this initiative was a step toward long-term resilience, empowering survivors with essential skills to protect themselves and their families.
Health Begins with Awareness
For many women living in crisis conditions, preventable illnesses and infections pose a major threat. Limited access to healthcare and hygiene products can turn minor health concerns into life-threatening conditions.
To address this, LIPPA organized an awareness lecture on infections and communicable diseases, equipping women with vital knowledge about disease prevention, hygiene practices, and early detection of health risks. Because the first step in saving lives is knowing how to protect them.
First Aid Training: Teaching Life-Saving Skills
In emergencies, knowing what to do in the first few moments can mean the difference between life and death. That’s why this initiative also included a practical First Aid training workshop, where women and children learned simple yet critical emergency response techniques.
From treating wounds to responding to medical crises, this hands-on training gave participants the confidence and skills to act quickly in emergencies—whether in their own families or within their communities.
A Safe Space for Children to Learn and Heal
Children who survived the earthquake participated actively, engaging in interactive learning that helped them develop confidence and a sense of control over their own well-being. For many, this was more than just a workshop—it was an opportunity to heal, connect, and regain a sense of normalcy.
Building Stronger, Healthier Communities
LIPPA’s mission goes beyond immediate relief. By educating and empowering vulnerable communities, we create lasting change that helps survivors not just recover—but rebuild their future with strength and resilience.
Because when people have the knowledge to protect themselves and those around them, they don’t just survive—they thrive.
